The Parish Council have now installed interpretation Signs throughout the Parish which will give parishioners and visitors, knowledge and insight into the local area. Included in these signs are the local walks which can be used to enjoy the Parish and visit the local sites. Description of each route
Walk 1 | Sheepy Magna to Sheepy Parva – One way approx. 1 mile.
Walking down Main Street on the left-hand side of the road opposite Wheelwright Place take the footpath across the field. Follow the footpath across the field and follow the path in the direction of the river. Just over the bridge turn left and head across the field to Sheepy Parva

Walk 2 | Sheepy Magna to Ratcliffe Culey – One way approx. 1.5 miles.
Walking down Main Street on the left-hand side of the road opposite Wheelwright Place take the footpath across the field. Follow the footpath across the field and follow the path in the direction of the river. Just over the bridge either turn right and follow the path in the direction of the river Sence, across the fields. Cross a further bridge over the river and follow the path into the village of Ratcliffe Culey.

Walk 3 | Sheepy Magna village – Village loop approx. 1 mile.
From Main Road turn right into Meadow Close. Take the first right into Brookside Place to the Playing Fields. Walk across the playing field and turn left and follow the perimeter of the field walking along the footpath running parallel with Main Street, behind the houses. Behind Athol House turn left through the property garden to Main Street, Sheepy Magna.

Walk 4a | Sheepy Magna to The Cross Hands – Option a – Via Playing Field – Once way approx. 2.5 miles.
From Main Road turn right into Meadow Close. Take the first right into Brookside Place to the Playing Fields. Walk across the playing field and either turn right and follow the perimeter of the field and follow the footpath signs across the fields to New House Grange and Tithe Barn, eventually arriving at Orton Lane. Turn right following Orton Lane to The Cross Hands.

Walk 4b | Sheepy Magna to Cross Hands – Option b – Via south of the village – One way approx. 2.75 miles.
From Main Road walk along the footpath heading in the direction of Pinwall. Pass Ratcliffe Lane and turn right onto the track to New Hall Farm. Walk past the farm and follow the track running along the field edge. The path bends right and then left. The path continues across the field to New House Grange and Tithe Barn, eventually arriving at Orton Lane. Turn right following Orton Lane to The Cross Hands.

Full Route Descriptions
Walk 1 | Sheepy Parva to Sibson – One way approx. 2 miles.
As you leave Sheepy Parva, take the Sibson Road heading in the direction of Sibson. On the first bend take the footpath on your right. The path runs parallel with the Sibson Road and the river Sence. You will eventually reach a split in the footpath just outside Sibson. Take the left to head into the small village of Sibson, or right which will take you to the south end of Sibson village.

Walk 2a | Sheepy Parva to Ratcliffe Culey – One way approx. 1.5 miles.
From Sheepy Parva on Mill Lane, head in the direction of Wellsborough (passing Kingfisher Way, and then the cottages on the left-hand side) Opposite take the footpath located on the right-hand side between the properties. The footpath crosses fields running close to the river Sence. You eventually cross a small footbridge outside the village of Ratcliffe Culey where the footpath splits. Head straight on and after a short distance you’ll reach the village of Ratcliffe Culey.

Walk 2b | Sheepy Parva to Ratcliffe Culey – One way approx. 1.75 miles.

Sibson walking routes
Walk 1 | Sibson to Sheepy Parva – One way approx. 2 miles.
Leaving the village centre in the direction of Sheepy Parva past Long Row cottages and adjacent to Glenfield Cottage take the left-hand side footpath. After a short distance the footpath splits, turn right and follow the footpath through the fields, eventually following a route parallel to Sibson Road and the River Tweed. You will eventually reach the corner of Sibson Road just outside Sheepy Parva. Head straight ahead on the road and after a short distance you will reach the junction of Sibson Road and Wellsborough Road in Sheepy Parva. |
Walk 2a | Sibson to Ratcliffe Culey – One way approx. 2 miles.
Leaving the village centre in the direction of Sheepy Parva past Long Row cottages and adjacent to Glenfield Cottage take the left-hand side footpath. After a short distance the footpath splits. Continuing straight (Right takes you towards Sheepy Parva) heading out of the hamlet, you will reach a small bridge. Cross the bridge and over the river. Continue along the footpath until you reach a small farm. The footpath splits in three directions. Ignore the left turn which takes you to the A444 and back towards Sibson. Head straight continuing across the field eventually reaching Sibson Road. Turn right and follow the road in the direction of Ratcliffe Culey.

Walk 2b | Sibson to Ratcliffe Culey – One way approx. 2 miles.
Leaving the village centre in the direction of Sheepy Parva past Long Row cottages and adjacent to Glenfield Cottage take the left-hand side footpath. After a short distance the footpath splits. Continuing straight (Right takes you towards Sheepy Parva) heading out of the hamlet, you will reach a small bridge. Cross the bridge and over the river. Continue along the footpath until you reach a small farm. The footpath splits in three directions. Ignore the left turn which takes you to the A444 and back towards Sibson. Turn right and follow the footpath across the fields to eventually reach Sibson Road. Turn right and walk along the road in the direction of Ratcliffe Culey.

Walk 3 | Sibson to Wellsborough – One way approx. 2 miles.
Leaving the village centre a few meters past the church entrance, cross the A444 and turn left (towards Twycross) and take the footpath on the right-hand side through the trees. Follow the path running diagonally across the field towards Grange Farm. The footpath splits turn left and follow the footpath diagonally across the field until you reach Tinsel Lane. Turn right and follow the road. You will eventually reach the entrance to The Valley Farm. Opposite the entrance take the footpath to the left hand-side and follow the path across the field until you reach Bosworth Road in hamlet of Wellsborough. |
Walk 4 | Sibson to Far Coton – One way approx. 3 miles.
Leaving the village centre a few meters past the church entrance, cross the A444 and turn left (towards Twycross) and take the footpath on the right-hand side through the trees. Follow the path running diagonally across the field towards Grange Farm. The footpath splits turn right and follow the footpath across the field. Walk past The Valley Farm eventually reaching Tinsel Lane. Turn right and after about 25 metres on the left take the footpath across the field. Cross over the canal bridge and after a short distance you will reach the small hamlet of Far Coton. |

Full Route Description
Walk 1 | Upton to Far Coton – One way approx. 3.5 miles.
At the junction of Upton Lane, Shenton Lane and Main Road take the footpath across the field, veer to the left at the bend, continue until you reach Shenton Lane. Cross Shenton Lane taking the footpath immediately on the left. Continue along the path through the coppice until you reach Sibson Lane. Turn right onto Sibson Lane and walk a short distance to Stubble Hill Farm, taking the footpath to the left-hand side. Continue along the path until you reach Tinsel Lane. Turn right and continue along Tinsel Lane, going over the canal bridge. Turn left and you will reach the small hamlet of Far Coton.

Walk 2 | Upton to Wellsborough – One way approx. 4.5 miles.
At the junction of Upton Lane, Shenton Lane and Main Road take the footpath across the field, veer to the left at the bend, continue until you reach Shenton Lane. Cross Shenton Lane taking the footpath immediately on the left. Continue along the path through the coppice until you reach Sibson Lane. Turn right onto Sibson Lane and walk a short distance to Stubble Hill Farm, taking the footpath to the left-hand side. Continue along the path until you reach Tinsel Lane. Turn left and continue along Tinsel Lane opposite the entrance to The Valley Farm. Take the footpath to the right-hand side and walk along the footpath across the field until you reach Bosworth Road in Wellsborough.

Walk 3 | Upton to Shenton – One way approx. 3 miles.
At the junction of Upton Lane, Shenton Lane and Main Road take the footpath across the field, veer to the right at the bend and continue on the footpath for a short distance. In the middle of the field the path forks. Take the right-hand footpath takes you either directly to Fenn Lane if you continue straight, or you can take the left-hand path to eventually reach the village of Shenton.

Walk 4a | Upton to Atterton – One way approx. 3 miles.
At the junction of Upton Lane, Shenton Lane and Main Road take the footpath across the field, veer to the right at the bend and continue on the footpath for a short distance. In the middle of the field the path forks. Take the right-hand footpath takes you to the road junction of Fenn Lane and Stoke Road. Walk across Stoke Road and take the footpath straight-ahead, taking you in the direction of Atterton after crossing the A444.

Walk 4b | Upton to Sutton Cheney – One way approx. 6 miles.
At the junction of Upton Lane, Shenton Lane and Main Road take the footpath across the field, veer to the right at the bend and continue on the footpath for a short distance. In the middle of the field the path forks. Take the right-hand footpath takes you to the road junction of Fenn Lane and Stoke Road. Turn left and walk along Fenn Lane which eventually takes you to Sutton Cheney after a further 4 miles.

Walk 5 | Upton to Sibson – One way approx. 1.5 miles.
As you walk along Main Road in the direction of Atterton, take the footpath to the right-hand side. Walk on the footpath across the fields until you reach the A444. Turn right and walk along the A444 footpath into the village of Sibson.

Full route description
Walk 1 | Wellsborough to Shenton – One way approx. 4 miles.
Set off on Wellsborough Road leaving the hamlet and heading in the direction of Market Bosworth. Shortly after Manor Farm, take the footpath on your right. Follow the footpath until you reach Tinsel Lane and turn left. Take the second footpath on the right-hand side at the corner. Follow the footpath to Stubble Hill Farm and Shenton Lane, then turn left and you will eventually reach the village of Shenton. (From Wellsborough approx. total distance of 4 miles)

Walk 2 | Wellsborough to Bosworth Battlefield site (via Shenton) – One way approx. 5 miles.
Set off on Wellsborough Road leaving the hamlet and heading in the direction of Market Bosworth. Shortly after Manor Farm, take the footpath on your right. Follow the footpath until you reach Tinsel Lane and turn left. Take the second footpath on the right-hand side at the corner. Follow the footpath to Stubble Hill Farm and Shenton Lane, then turn left walking along Sibson Lane and you will eventually reach the village of Shenton.
In Shenton from Sibson Lane turn into Shenton Lane. Continue to Shenton Station carpark and follow the footpaths to the Bosworth Battlefield site which is approximately a further 1.5 mile walk to reach the Bosworth Battlefield site. (From Wellsborough approx. total distance of 5 miles)

Set off on Wellsborough Road leaving the hamlet and heading in the direction of Market Bosworth. Shortly after Manor Farm take the footpath on your right. Follow path until you reach Tinsel Lane. Turn left, take the next footpath to the left-hand side, which will take you to the small hamlet of Far Coton. Continue to follow the path through Far Coton which reaches Tinsel Lane. Turn left over The Battlefield Line. Shortly after Coton Priory cottages take a footpath to the left-hand side which will take you into the small market town of Market Bosworth. Walk 5 | Countryside North of Wellsborough
Set off on Wellsborough Road leaving the hamlet and heading in the direction of Market Bosworth. You will reach a lay-by on your left. A footpath leads from the left-hand side. This footpath splits taking you to the left past Temple Mill and in the direction of the village of Twycross or towards the hamlet of The Cross Hands and onwards to the village of Sheepy Magna. Alternatively, if you turn right it takes you in the direction of the villages of Congerstone or Carlton.
