Give your thoughts on Hinckley and Bosworth heritage

Hinckley and Bosworth residents are being asked for their thoughts on a four-year vision to identify, manage and enhance the borough’s heritage.

With such a rich history, there is plenty to promote, enjoy and learn about across Hinckley and Bosworth – over many different subject areas.

The borough’s history includes the Battle of Bosworth and Hinckley Market, which has been running since the year 1311.

The area, famous for its historic ties to the hosiery industry, also has 353 statutory listed buildings and 28 conservation areas.

Some of the attractions in the borough, run both publicly and privately, include: the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, Burbage Common, Ashby Canal, Groby Pool, Thornton Reservoir, Mallory Park motor racing circuit, Triumph Motorcycles visitor centre and many more.

Among the council’s objectives are for the borough’s heritage to be more accessible, to increase heritage related tourism and to celebrate historic achievements.

The Borough Council has published a draft version of the heritage strategy and accompanying action plan. Comments will help the council to further develop and improve the heritage strategy.

Cllr Paul Williams, Heritage Champion for the Borough Council, said: “Our borough’s heritage is something everyone at the council, politicians and staff alike, is immensely proud of.

“A lot of hard work goes into many different heritage projects, and it’s important that you have your say and help shape this work for the next four years.”

The closing date for completing the survey is Friday 25 July at 5pm.
