OPEN DAY AT THE MUSEUM

We’ve got lots of activities on for kids and adults. The Sir John Moore Foundation Museum is normally only open by appointment only, because it is above a school. It is also up several flights of stairs!

But for the annual Open Day I’m able to put exhibitions downstairs in accessible rooms, and have games and activities for kids. We’ve also got refreshments, an interactive Victorian lesson in our Victorian classroom, and hourly tours of the museum.

And the whole thing is free! (Donations welcome)

Sir John Moore Foundation, Appleby Magna DE12 7AH. Back in time for school! For a fun family day out, come to our Open Day. With a 17th century clock, an early 20th century Punishment Book, and a collection spanning over three centuries, there’s a lot to see at the Sir John Moore Foundation Museum. Explore what it was like to work, learn and live at one of the country’s oldest schools – but watch out for our Victorian teacher!
